Our Team

Our church leadership is made up of people from diverse backgrounds, all with the common goal of helping others develop a deeper relationship with God.

Trevor Van Laar | Pastor

Trevor was born and raised on an almond farm in the Central Valley of California. He was blessed with loving parents and a church family who guided him toward Jesus. His first experience in ministry was in high school where he led his first bible study. After graduating from California State University, Fresno (with a degree in Administration of Recreation and Leisure studies), Trevor began his ministry career at Mount Hermon Christian Camps and Conference Center in Santa Cruz, California where he served in multiple leadership positions over the course of a decade. Many long-time GPC attenders will remember that Trevor also served right here at GPC as the Director of Family Ministries from 2007-2012. While serving GPC the first time, Trevor finished up his education with an Masters of Divinity from Western Seminary.

Trevor is married to Cynthia, who as it happens, grew up attending GPC! Together they have four great children, Noelle, Wyatt, Emma and Mackenzie. Trevor is an active member of the Gilroy community, serving in various roles in the Garlic Festival, and as a board member and Facilitator for Leadership Gilroy classes each year.

Reggie Coates | Worship Arts Director

Reggie serves as our Worship Arts Director leading worship on Sundays and directing the choir for special occasions. Reggie has a love for God and others that is contagious and touches people’s lives in a powerful way. With a balance of skillful artistry, human experience and spiritual truth, he lives out the verse from Psalm 33:3, “Sing to the Lord a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy!” He grew up in Pasadena, California, and moved to the Bay Area when he was 15 years old. His favorite hobbies are spending time with his family, playing guitar, and kick-boxing.

Reggie resides in Mount Hermon, California, with his wife, Sherri. He has been actively involved in music ministry for over 40 years. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance and a Teaching Credential in Music Education from San Jose State University. He also has a Master of Science degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. He graduated from the Pastoral Training School at Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto, under Dr. Ray C. Stedman, and is a licensed minister. Currently, Reggie is the Executive Director of Heartfelt Music® and teaches full-time at Valley Christian Schools in San Jose.

Josh Ferreira | Director of Youth Ministries

Josh serves our junior high and high school students here at GPC. He is passionate about leading and guiding youth in their spiritual development and empowering them to be authentic disciples for Christ. Originally from Southern California, Josh met his wife Natalie in 2010 while working at Forest Home Christian Camps and they have been married since 2014. Josh is an avid sports fan and loves to cheer on his hometown teams from Los Angeles. When not hanging out with students, you can find him at the movies, studying at a local coffee shop, playing golf, or planning his next trip to Disneyland.

Kayt Anderson | Children's Ministry DIrector

Kayt grew up moving up and down the coast of California until her family re-landed in Gilroy in 2003. As a plucky youth, she was mentored and loved on by a handful of leaders at GPC who encouraged her and, ultimately, led her to Jesus. Kayt always had a heart for working with kids and disadvantaged youth. She feels blessed to have been given many opportunities to work with children of all ages over the years. After graduating from Humboldt State University in 2016 (with a degree in English), she joined our staff and leveled up through the ranks to become our Children’s Ministry Director. When Kayt isn’t at GPC, you can find her teaching percussion at Christopher High School, nerding out over just about any and all things, writing thousands of unfinished stories, staring up at the redwoods, or running head first into the ocean.

Carol Moreland | Office Manager

Carol Joined our staff in May of 2014. She and her husband William are longtime members at GPC. As well as being on staff Carol enjoys volunteering in many areas here at Gilroy Presbyterian Church.

You can find Carol at the front desk ready to greet you with a smile and help you in any way She can. She enjoys working with Church leaders, staff and volunteers to ensure that things run smoothly.

When not at her desk, Carol spends time working in her garden, cooking, baking, and reading her way through the mystery section at the Gilroy Library.

Denise Brolin | Accountant

Denise joined the Gilroy Presbyterian Church staff in January 2018 as the church’s Accountant. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Accounting, Denise earned her CPA license in 1993 and has been building her career doing taxes and accounting ever since. When she’s not keeping the church accounting records in order, you will find her volunteering for The Gilroy Exchange Club or Gilroy Chamber of Commerce. She also enjoys running, watching Grey’s Anatomy and spending time with friends and family. Denise has lived in Gilroy for over 40 years and has three children, Erik, Anna and Katelyn
