Adult Ministry

We offer many options for adults to gather for fun, fellowship, and learning. Through scripture-based studies, classes, and workshops, there are a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth and betterment.

Body Mind and Spirit

Our bodies, minds, and spirits are all interconnected. This class will connect our relationship with Christ to our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being in unique ways each week, with different health professionals and enthusiasts in our congregation leading each session.

Classes will be as follows:
April 14 - Breathe in. Breathe out. Did you know that every day you inhale and exhale about 20,000 times? Join us for an informal discussion about how the lungs we are blessed with are truly the breath of life. We will talk about how they work, how to keep them healthy, and a little bit of anatomy! Led by Claudia Green, Cardiopulmonary Wellness Nurse and Exercise Physiologist

April 21 - Exercise for Health & Well Being for All Ages. Learn more about the current thinking on the importance of living a balanced life (exercise, diet, social connections, sunlight, sleep) and understand best practices for stretching. There’s also value added when exercise is shared with friends! Joe will share how hiking groups he’s organized have formed a sense of community and incentive! Led by Joe and Claudia Green, a couple committed to wellness both personally and professionally.

April 28 - Why Sleep Matters. Do you “Burn the candle at both ends”? For many of us, sleep is what we trim when time is short. Join us to learn more about the significance of good sleep to our overall health and well-being. Poor sleep affects mood and functioning in the short term, as well as brain health in the long. Learn best practices to improve your sleep quality. Led by Stella Yufenyuy, Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

May 5 - “Intentional Refresh” Remember those intentions you had for the New Year? The ones to take better care of your body? Join Ellison Yufenyuy as he helps to remind us why it’s important and offers ways to gently get started again to keep the momentum going. He’ll also share about his journey and how his life has been shaped through the many changes that have come along the way.

May 12 - Body, Mind and Spirit: How our Thinking Affects Every Aspect of Our Health. What goes on in your head? How we talk to ourselves has a direct impact on how we see ourselves and our relationships to EVERYthing around us. Learn about common thought distortions and how to shift them to promote a healthier way of living in the world. George & Vicki Minerva (both retired Marriage and Family Therapists) will lead this class.

May 19 -Forgiveness. Learn what Forgiveness is, and what it isn’t. Struggling with hurt when someone has hurt or betrayed you is a natural response to a deep injury. The problem grows when we hold on to unforgiveness over time, affecting our relationships with God and people around us, robbing us of peace. We’ll talk about therapeutic and Biblical guidance on how and why we forgive. George & Vicki Minerva will lead this class.

Improving your prayer life.

Women’s Bible Study: Draw the Circle – The 40-Day Prayer Challenge

Join a group of women as we delve into “Draw the Circle: The 40-Day Prayer Challenge” by Mark Batterson. This powerful study encourages us to deepen our prayer life and trust God to work in extraordinary ways.

Start Date: Tuesday, March 24 - Tuesday, April 21st
Time: 6:00 – 7:30 PM
Sign Up: Available on Sundays or call the church office, 408-842-3000

Participants will need to purchase the study guide “Draw the Circle” (green cover), which is available on Amazon.

In this study, we will take part in the 40-Day Prayer Challenge together, learning how prayer can transform our lives and strengthen our faith.

“I believe prayer is the difference between the best you can do and the best God can do. It's the difference between letting things happen and making things happen. It's the difference between you fighting for God and God fighting for you. Over the forty days, we're going to pray like it depends on God and work like it depends on us. And I believe that God is going to show up and show off His power, His grace, His goodness.”
— Mark Batterson

Come be part of this encouraging time of prayer, study, and fellowship with other women.

A Good Yarn

Is knitting or crocheting something you've been meaning to do? Whether you're experienced, or completely new to it, join us! We provide the yarn and have tools to borrow. We'll partner with World Vision (and other causes) to make infant and child beanies, blankets, maybe even sweaters! We'll learn from each other, get to know each other better while meeting a need! This will be a drop in group so you can show up when you're able to make it.
